Fiddle Leaf Fig: (local nursery, Country Boys)| Frame: Opal House for TargetBench: Target

Happy Tuesday! I am a day behind on posting here because we had an exciting Sunday. I threw together a little surprise 30th birthday party for my husband with our close friends + some pizza and ice cream of course. It was a great time! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well!

For today's post, I wanted to share a few items that I am loving lately that are currently in stores! (There are wayy too many tabs open on my computer right now). We have a room at the entry way of our home that doesn't have a purpose. Good problem to have I know, #firstworldproblems, but I've been trying to figure out how to style this space for quite a while now. I initially envisioned a cutesy formal sitting room, yet wanted it to be semi functional. My husband's office is just adjacent to this room, so I decided to make it a little his & her's office set up with this space being designated as "my office."

I am currently working on styling the space and I decided I wanted it to feel light, modern, feminine, and of course a little bohemian as well. As you know, I've been very into mid century modern furniture lately, and landed this amazing white mid century modern table off of Craig's List... for free! Yes, free! It is still in stores for $200, but the guy said if i'd come take it off his hands I could have it! YES! I also recently fell in love with this rug from World Market (currently on sale)! These two pieces have been the main source of inspiration for this space thus far. It is still a work in progress, but I promise to share the finished space here on the blog soon! In the meantime see below for a sneak peak! Also, for more home posts click HERE! Have a great day! Love, Christina

Sullivan's Island: The Obstinate Daughter

Top: My Fiore Boutique (on sale!)| Leggings: old (love THESE and these)|Booties: TargetHeadwrap: Aerie (on sale! also love this)| Bag: Tory Burch (old, LOVE: here and here) | Hair: Barefoot Blonde (shade: Peanut Butter and Jealous)| Nails: OPI Alpine Snow

Our first stop on a long weekend in Charleston was to the beautiful, trendy Sullivan's Island. Capping Mount Pleasant and adjacent to Isle of Palms, this little nook is home to some of the best restaurants and shops. I had been wanting to try The Obstinate Daughter for quite some time! It did not disappoint. To be honest, it was one of the best meals I have had. Ever. We started off with a butter bean flat bread drizzled with the most flavorful olive oil. I decided on a caprese sandwich and my husband got a meatball sub, both of which were served with a side of marinated vegetables and absolutely to die for! I strongly suggest if you are in the Charleston area, checking out The Obstinate Daughter for lunch, dinner, or brunch! Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend! Thank you so much for stopping by! Love, Christina

Wedding Wednesday: Engagement Photos

Photos:
Lauren Williams Photography| Dress: Lulus (still available! also short version here)| Head piece: Which Goose via Etsy
Brett: Suspenders|Pants| Shoes

For today's Wedding Wednesday Series, I wanted to share with you our engagement photos by Lauren William's Photography. I discovered Lauren on Instagram and loved how her photos were beautify, bright, and truly captured emotion behind the image. That's exactly what I craved in our engagement photos. Lauren was wonderful to work with and made us feel so comfortable: giving us enough direction yet allowing the progress to be organic. (As you will notice, I am laughing hard in most of these photos... this is normal life with Brett!)

I knew I wanted a mountain view and to use these photos for our save the dates! With a shorter engagement and a May wedding, we had to shoot these photos in January and unfortunately in NC/SC it is hard to find a good location in winter to shoot because of the snow/ice. Lauren was wonderful at working with us on finding a great location that really captured my vision.

I absolutely love how these turned out and will cherish them! If you are local, be sure to check out Lauren Williams Photography. Also, be sure to check out my other Wedding Wednesday posts HERE. Hope everyone is having a great week... halfway there!<3

Trader Joes Haul

Why Trader Joes?
Like many of us these days, I am a huge fan of Trader Joes. It is the "affordable Whole Foods" to many, but to me it is an affordable and friendly place to buy organic and healthy-er options to create meals for my family. We live about 20 minutes from the Trader Joes in Greenville, but I try to make a weekly voyage to stock up on my go-to items, meats, and produce. I can't get 100% of my groceries there, but I would say about 80%. As I need other items throughout the week, I stop at a local grocery on my way home from work.

Atmosphere: Trader Joes employees are so friendly! They are also wizards when it comes to the Jenga packing of the recyclable grocery bags. I want their skills... A few other reasons I love Trader Joes is because of the selection of affordable fresh flowers! Eucalyptus, baby's breath, blush roses, and white hydrangeas are my go-tos to brighten up my kitchen and dinning room. I can always snag these beauties at Trader Joes. Also, life hack (!!) Trader Joes has the BEST selection of cards (birthday, thank you, baby, wedding, and even blank) and they are ONLY 99 cents! I always snag a couple to have on hand for various events! They also have a great selection of wines, beers, hostess gifts, and non-toxic household items.

My weekly go-tos:1. Produce: (I try to buy organic, especially for the items on the "Dirty Dozen List.") blue berries, black berries, spring mix, arugula, oranges, apples, tomatos, sweet potatoes, avocado, and mushrooms.

2. Dry Goods: Veggie pasta, pasta sauce, olive oil, brown basmati rice, tortillias, bread/bagels/wheat thins, brand cereal, and creamy tomato soup
3. Meats: organic chicken tenders, ground turkey, shrimp, pork chops, ground beef or steak
4. Cold Goods: milk, eggs, greek yogurt, goat cheese, deli meat, lite mexican cheese, sliced munster cheese, kombucha, and sometimes cookie dough :)
5. Frozen Goods: sweet potato gnocchi, organic broccoli, asian stir fry vegetable mix, gluten free waffles, and all white meat chicken nuggets
6. Snacks: lite string cheese, plantain chips, fig cookies, blue corn tortilla chips, almonds, pretzels, dried apricots, and lara bars

Weekly Go-to Meals:
1. Organic veggie/wheat pasta with harvest marinara and homemade turkey meat balls
2. Grilled chicken pasta with olive oil, greens, tomatos, mushrooms, and spices
3. Grilled bbq pork chops with sweet potato gnocchi, and broccoli
4. Beef or shrimp tacos, on corn tortillas with cheesey lime, brown basmati rice and arugala side salad topped with grilled mushrooms
5. Breakfast for dinner: scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, waffles, greek yogurt, and berries
6. Asian honey sesame chicken over brown basmati rice with stir fry veggies
7. Grilled steak with sweet potato and steamed green beans
8. Grilled chicken cesar salads
9. Chicken sausage, sweet potato gnochi, and asparagus/onion stir fry
10. Grilled cheese on sour dough with tomato soup

Thirty Candles in Charleston...

Skirt: Free People| Bag: Tory Burch (old, LOVE: here and here)| Shoes: Adidas| Top: Forever 21 (random find, love this and this)|
Hair: Barefoot Blonde (shade: Peanut Butter and Jealous)| Nails: OPI Alpine Snow

My husband surprised me with a trip to Charleston for my 30th birthday! Charleston is probably my favorite city I have every visited, or tied with New York City. We had a wonderful weekend popping in an out of interior design shops, eating way too much amazing food, and re-connecting in this romantic, costal city. I'm planning on doing a Charleston Travel Guide next week on the blog to share some of my favorite places in the city! Would you be interested in reading?

I have actually never visited Charleston in the Winter, and the vibe was a little different then the typical muggy, sunshine days of the other seasons. Still I wanted to wear something special so I strategically brought this beautiful metallic skirt by Free People. I tried to dress it down by pairing it with Adidas and a neutral top. I can't get enough of this skirt and I'm sure you will see it styled in a different way very soon! Thank you for stopping by and I hope everyone has an amazing weekend!
